Saturday night Lewis Pass highway
closure west of Hanmer Springs
The NZ Transport Agency advises everyone who drives on State Highway 7 in North Canterbury, west of the Hanmer Springs turnoff, that the highway will be closed this Saturday night from 10 pm to 6 am Sunday.
The deck of Don’s Fan bridge, needs to be
replaced.
In an emergency, emergency vehicles will be
accommodated.
The bridge currently has Stop-Go traffic
management and speed restrictions in place since the repairs
got underway at the end of April.
Detour via SH73
People who would normally travel to the West Coast overnight should take the Arthur’s Pass route, SH73.
From Sunday morning, 12 May, Stop/Go traffic management will resume.
This work, which started at the end of April, is expected to end on 20 May.
