Incident closes all 4 lanes of Southern Motorway at Ellerslie
Auckland motorists are advised that an incident has blocked all four northbound lanes of the Southern Motorway (SH1) just north of the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway interchange.
A police helicopter has landed on the motorway and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating the incident. At this stage, it is not clear how long the motorway will remain blocked.
All southbound lanes are open but traffic is backing up as motorists slow to check the incident scene.
Motorists heading north on SH1 are advised to get off the motorway at or before Ellerslie or use SH20 via the Waterview tunnel to continue their journey north via the Western Ring Route.
Motorists should delay their journeys if it involves travel on SH1.
