Police make arrest following St Johns aggravated robbery
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong, Auckland City Crime Squad:
Police have made an arrest in relation to an aggravated robbery at a jewellery store in St Johns on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 1pm at the shopping centre located on St Johns Road.
As a result of Police enquiries underway since the incident, a 45-year-old man was located at a West Auckland address and taken into custody.
Police have also recovered items allegedly stolen from the jewellery store at the address.
The man has now been charged with a raft of serious offences. Those charges include aggravated robbery, presenting a firearm, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He is due to appear in the Auckland District Court today. Police would like to acknowledge witnesses at the scene of the aggravated robbery who have assisted our enquiries.
The investigation is still ongoing and Police cannot rule out further arrests being made over this matter.
