Invercargill Police are appealing for the public's help to find out who was responsible for stealing from a local charitable organisation.

At about 6pm on Sunday, 17 July, Police were alerted to a vehicle fire at Sandy Point past the Te Ara Oue Track.

The fire-damaged red Nissan ‘Caravan’ van had previously been stolen from a North Road property between 6 and 7 July.

A large chest freezer full of meat was also stolen from the same property the van was taken from.

The meat was destined to help people in need.

Police believe more than one person would have been involved due to the weight of the meat-laden freezer.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have been offered cheap meat or knows of someone who has come into possession of a large amount of meat they wouldn’t normally have.
