Urgent Water Conservation Notice: Timaru Urban
Water users on the Timaru Urban network are being asked to conserve water until Monday to avoid a Boil Water Notice having to be put in place.
The current weather event has created muddy conditions on our main and backup water sources, so we are currently unable to take water from them.
At the moment we are only using existing storage in our reservoirs, which meets all standards, but this will only last a few days at normal usage levels.
If this runs low we would have to switch on the intakes and put a city-wide boil water notice in place.
To avoid this, everyone in Timaru needs to conserve as much water as possible until Monday 25 July. Everyone doing their bit is our best chance of avoiding a boil water notice having to be put in place.
