Elections To Be Held In All Canterbury Constituencies
Election contests will be held in all seven
constituencies for the Canterbury Regional
Council.
“With the deadline passing for people to get their nominations in and candidates confirmed, I can advise that there will be an election in all seven constituencies,” Environment Canterbury Electoral Officer Anthony Morton said.
Elections are conducted every three years by postal vote to elect 14 councillors across 7 constituencies for the Canterbury Regional Council (Environment Canterbury).
Nominations closed at 12 noon on Friday 12 August and there were more candidates than vacancies in each of the constituencies, meaning an election would be required in each area.
Voter packs will be mailed on 16 September to those enrolled on the district or city council electoral rolls within the Environment Canterbury area.
Voting closes at 12 noon on Saturday 8 October 2022.
Verification of candidate information is ongoing and the final candidate list is expected to be confirmed later on Friday night. You can check for updates on the Electionz website.
Once confirmed, the full list of candidates and their biographies will be published online. For further information about the election, go to our website.
