Heavy Rain Warning For Marlborough Tomorrow Until Thursday - Marlborough District Council
Heavy rain is expected for the Marlborough Sounds, Bryant and Richmond ranges, including the Rai Valley from 1.00 pm tomorrow, Tuesday 16 August, until 9.00 pm Thursday 18 August.
MetService advises that during this time the Marlborough Sounds can expect 150mm to 200mm of rain, while between 300mm to 450 mm is expected to accumulate about the ranges with a peak rate of 10 to 15 mm/h.
People are advised to stay off the roads in the Marlborough Sounds tomorrow if possible as heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
Marlborough Emergency Management is keeping a close eye on the forecast and key agencies including Council, Waka Kotahi, Marlborough Roads and Fire and Emergency are making plans in case roads need to be closed due to flooding or slips.
The MetService will update its forecast later this evening. People are advised to heed weather warnings and keep an eye on the MetService website or app, and follow news reports. Council will send out an update tomorrow morning (Tuesday 16 August).
