Harbour Ferry Transitions To Cashless Payments
Wellington’s East By West ferry service is moving to a cashless payment system from 1 May 2025, with the harbour ferries accepting ticket payments via credit or debit cards to provide faster, safer and more convenient transactions.
Tickets can be purchased from the East By West ticket office on Queens Wharf or onboard. Payment by inserting or swiping a debit card will avoid a 1.5% credit/contactless surcharge.
Ferry staff will be able to provide in-person support and assist passengers with any questions.
