New River Bridge, SH6, Repairs Investigation Underway Near Greymouth, Overnight Closure Mid-May
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising drivers to plan ahead for an overnight closure of the New River Bridge at Camerons on SH6 scheduled for Thursday 15 May.
The bridge has suffered a slumped pier in recent months. The repair strategy investigation involves load testing the bridge, says Moira Whinham, Maintenance Contract Manager for NZTA on the West Coast.

As a result, the bridge will be closed overnight from 10 pm Thursday, 15 May to 5 am Friday, 16 May.
- The road will open on the hour, every hour, to clear traffic and emergency access will be allowed at short notice.
- People are asked to plan their journeys on that Thursday night accordingly and allow for extra travel time, says Miss Whinham.
