Masterton's Library Upgrade Boosted By Major Community Support
Masterton's transformative library upgrade project - Breathing new life into our whare pukapuka - has received a significant boost with Masterton Trust Lands Trust (MTLT) pledging $250,000 toward the fitout of essential community learning spaces, bringing the 2027 opening closer to reality.
The substantial grant will enable the creation of a state-of-the-art community classroom and modern community lounge, facilities that will serve as catalysts for lifelong learning and community connection in the heart of Masterton.
"We are incredibly grateful for MTLT's generous and far-sighted investment in our community's future," said GM Community Corin Haines. "This partnership represents a shared commitment to creating spaces where every member of our community can learn, grow, and thrive together."
"The impact of this contribution will be felt for generations.”
“We're not just building a library – we're creating a modern community hub that will empower local groups to share knowledge, develop new skills, and strengthen the bonds that make Masterton special."
The project builds on decades of partnership between MTLT and Masterton's library services, with the Trust's support now exceeding $750,000 over more than 30 years of community investment.
The library is set to move to 45 Chapel Street, formerly My Ride, later this year before groundworks begin on the existing site.
