National Prize For Masterton District Library
Masterton District Library has won first place in the 2025 Out on the Shelves display competition — part of an annual campaign in June celebrating rainbow (LGBTQIA+) literature in libraries across New Zealand.
Each year, during Out on the Shelves month run by the InsideOUT Kōaro charity, public libraries across the country are encouraged to create pride-themed displays that showcase and celebrate their rainbow collections.
Masterton District Library's standout display captured the spirit of inclusivity, creativity, and celebration that lies at the heart of the campaign.
Library and Archive Manager Tiffany Rawlings said the displays were a powerful way for libraries to show their support for rainbow communities, sending the message that everyone is welcome, safe, and valued within their spaces.
“I'm incredibly fortunate to lead such an amazing team who ensure the library is a welcoming place for everyone,” she said.
