Nighttime Closures - SH1 Between Silverdale And Oteha Valley Road
Overnight closures are coming up on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Oteha Valley Road and Silverdale for road surface maintenance.
The work is starting Sunday 3 August and is scheduled for approximately 3 weeks.
During this time, contractors for NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) we will be carrying out road rehabilitation and resurfacing activities at multiple sections on both the northbound and southbound lanes.
The schedule is:
SH1 Silverdale to Oteha Valley Road: Full overnight southbound closures (9pm - 5am) Sundays to Thursdays between 3 August and Sunday 11 August.
Detour is via Twin Coast Discovery Highway, East Coast Road and Oteha Valley Road.
Wet weather contingency dates are 31 August to 4 September.
SH1 Oteha Valley Road to Silverdale: Full overnight northbound closure (9pm - 5am) Sundays to Thursdays between 12 August and 20 August.
Detour is via Oteha Valley Road, East Coast Road and Twin Coast Discovery Highway. (Note there will be no access to BPConnect Dairy Flat when the closure is in.)
Wet weather contingency dates will be 24 to 28 August.
People can expect to see ramp closures and lane restrictions ahead of the major works.
In areas that require rehabilitation, contractors will be removing a thick layer of the road (approx. 120mm) and then gradually replacing that with new material. Once this has been completed asphalt will be laid on top to provide a smooth surface for road users.
To maximise this closure, NZTA will also be carrying out other road improvement activities at the same time.
