Reach New Heights In Local Leadership - Call For Nominations For The Highest Vote
With four days left for locals to stand for elected positions during this year’s local body elections in Queenstown Lakes District, the countdown has begun to get nominations in before the deadline midday sharp on Friday 1 August.
This year, Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) is inviting locals to take democracy to new heights - literally and figuratively - through The Highest Vote campaign. Candidates are encouraged to represent their communities and stand for Mayor, Councillor or Community Board member.
“These are really rewarding roles,” says QLDC Chief Executive Mike Theelen. “It’s about shaping the direction of our district and having a say in how we grow, protect our environment, and support our people. We’d love to see people from all walks of life stepping forward.”
To stand for election, you must be enrolled to vote and nominated by two people from the area you wish to represent. Candidates don’t need political experience, just a desire to serve their community and help create a better future.
Now’s the time to climb higher, lead boldly, and be part of The Highest Vote. Potential candidates should make note that the nomination period closes at midday Friday 1 August, and late submissions won’t be accepted.
