Candidate List Updated And Confirmed For Hamilton City Council Election

The list of candidates for the Hamilton City Council election has been updated.

A total of 52 candidates have put their names forward for election – including 12 mayoral candidates.

Since the provisional release of Council candidate names on Friday 1 August, two updates have been made: 

  • West General Ward: Graeme Mead is confirmed as a candidate, correcting the earlier listing of Graeme Murray.
  • East General Ward: Horiana Adrienne Henderson has been added to the list of candidates.

Voting opens on Tuesday 9 September 2025 and closes at midday on Saturday 11 October 2025.  

Alongside the election, Hamiltonians will be asked to vote in a binding poll on whether the city’s Kirikiriroa Maaori Ward should continue beyond the 2028 election.
