Extended Closure At Orman Falls Worksite
Ongoing closures on State Highway 6 between Haast and Makarora for essential rock scaling work at Orman Falls will be briefly extended next week, meaning potentially longer delays for motorists.
Currently the road is closed from 7am to 4pm each day and opens every hour, on the hour, to clear traffic. On Tuesday 19 August, the 2pm opening for traffic will be skipped as blasting work is carried out – meaning closure in place from 1pm to 3pm.
Road users should plan ahead for the additional delay. We thank people for their patience while this work is carried out.
Maintenance work next week on West Coast may cause disruption
Work due to take place at different sites on the West Coast next week could cause some disruption to travel, and New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is urging road users to be aware and plan ahead.

Drainage maintenance, vegetation control and retaining wall maintenance will take place over two sites between Dobson and Stillwater on State Highway 7 next week. Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes due to traffic management at these sites. A detour is available via Taylorville Road, but this is not suitable for overweight vehicles.

On State Highway 6 between Haast and Makarora, essential rock scaling work is due to take place at Orman Falls and Depot Creek from Monday 28 July through to Friday 5 September. The road will be closed from 7am to 4pm each day and will open every hour, on the hour, to clear traffic.
