State Highway 8, between Fairlie and Lake Pukaki, in the Mackenzie Basin has reopened after last night’s closure due to snow.
Road users are urged to drive with care through this area.

State Highway 8, between Fairlie and Lake Pukaki, in the Mackenzie Basin has been closed tonight because of snow.
Road users are advised to avoid the area or delay their journeys. The closure comes as a cold snap moves up the South Island and snow warnings have been in place in several areas.
Crews will be working to reopen the road and a further update is expected tomorrow morning.
