State Highway 93 between Mataura and Clinton has reopened following a fatal vehicle crash this morning.
The crash site has been cleared after police completed its investigations at the site.
Motorists are urged to drive with care through the area.
UPDATE 1.44pm – SH93 closure area extended
The closure area on State Highway 93 has been extended after a serious vehicle crash this morning.
The highway is now closed between Mataura and Clinton, with the closure point at the western end having been extended from Kaiwera Road.
Police investigations are continuing at the site, and the road closure is expected to be in place for several hours.
11.45am - Crash closes State Highway 93
A serious vehicle crash has closed part of State Highway 93 between Mataura and Clinton, and road users are being warned of potential delays.
Emergency services were called to the site after the crash earlier this morning, and the road is now closed between State Highway 1 and Kaiwera Road. Motorists are asked to delay their journeys or allow extra time for travel.

A detour is available for westbound traffic by using SH1, turning left onto Kaiwera Road and then right onto SH93. Eastbound traffic needs to reverse.
