Amber Alert Wind Warning For Auckland Harbour Bridge
UPDATE 12.30pm:
The amber alert for the Auckland Harbour Bridge has been extended, with strong winds expected until 9pm tonight.
A strong wind watch is also in place for Sunday, which may be upgraded to a warning.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is urging drivers to take extra care on the Auckland Harbour Bridge today with high winds expected between 11am and 3pm. Drivers of high sided vehicles and motorcyclists should be aware that gusts may reach amber alert thresholds.
The bridge will move to 4x4 configuration during the amber alert period.
Motorists are urged to drive to the conditions, look out for the electronic message boards which will indicate any lane closures or speed limit reductions, and stay within their lane while travelling across the bridge.
