Grassroots Trust Continues As Major Funder Of Life-Saving Rescue Helicopter Serving The Manawatū And Whanganui Regions
Philips Search and Rescue Trust are thrilled to announce that Grassroots Trust will continue as the Major Funder of the Palmerston North based, Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter for the next three years.

In this three-year agreement, Grassroots Trust is providing $800,000.
Philips Search and Rescue Trust General Manager, Vanessa Richmond says the Trust is “beyond delighted with the continuation of their partnership with Grassroots Trust, supporting the communities in the Manawatū and Whanganui regions and though that support being one of the building blocks, that in turn means we can all feel confident and reassured that the rescue helicopter will remain available for all of those who need it.”
Grassroots Trust has been a Major Funder of the rescue helicopter since 2022, during this period 1476 patients have received swift medical assistance and transport in the Grassroots Rescue Helicopter, accumulating in a total of 12,161, missions since its inception in 1991.
Grassroots Trust provides locally focused funding, to local communities, to help those local people, and they recognise the important service the rescue helicopter undertakes in this community.
Grassroots Trust Central Chairman Sean Hannan described the partnership as a positive one to continue, stating, in addition, that “it is important all funds raised in a region gets spent in the region,” ultimately benefiting those communities.
Costs of delivering this service continue to rise, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter is undertaking as many missions as ever – so the Grassroots Trust contribution remains of significant importance to helping your rescue helicopter be there whenever, and wherever it is needed.
