A section of State Highway 1 in North Canterbury has reopened after a vehicle crash this morning south of Cheviot.
Road users should still expect delays and are urged to drive with care through the area.
11.15am - Crash closes SH1 in North Canterbury
A serious vehicle crash this morning has closed State Highway 1 south of Cheviot in North Canterbury.
Emergency services are attending the crash, south of the intersection with Darrochs Road, that is understood to involve a single vehicle.
Road users should follow the directions of emergency services and expect delays. Detours will be available for light vehicles via State Highway 7, Route 70/Inland Road and Leader Road East/West.
Given it is a serious crash, people should be prepared for a closure of several hours. An update on the road status will be provided as the situation changes.
