Celebrate Community Spirit: Nominations Open For 2026 Western Bay Community Awards

Community spirit is the heartbeat of the Western Bay. It’s found in the neighbour who organises a local clean-up, the team behind a grassroots initiative, the not-for-profit group driving change, or the young person leading with empathy and courage.
The Western Bay Community Awards are a chance to say thank you — to shine a light on those who uplift others, often quietly and without expectation. Whether it’s an individual, a community group, or a charitable organisation, these awards honour those who make our region thrive.
Nominations for the 2026 awards are open until Wednesday 22 October 2025, with a quick and simple online form available at www.tect.org.nz. It’s an easy way to acknowledge the people, groups and initiatives making a difference for current and future generations of the Western Bay.
With seven categories open for nominations, there’s a space for all do-gooders to be recognised:
- Heart of the Community Award
- Volunteer of the Year Award
- Youth Spirit Award
- Diversity and Inclusion Award
- Sustainable Future Award
- Community Event Award
- Best Collaboration Award
Whether it’s a volunteer who gives tirelessly, a youth leader inspiring change, or a group creating inclusive spaces — these awards are about recognising those who embody the spirit of giving and togetherness.
Delivered in partnership by TECT Community Trust, Acorn Foundation, BayTrust, Tauranga City Council, and Western Bay of Plenty District Council, the Western Bay Community Awards celebrate those whose mahi brings connection, compassion, and resilience to our communities.
The 2026 awards ceremony will be held in March 2026, bringing together nominees, supporters, and partners to celebrate community spirit in action.
Help honour those making the Western Bay a better place for all by submitting your nomination before Wednesday 22 October 2025 at https://www.tect.org.nz
