Slip Restricts SH73, Strong Winds Continue
Stop/go traffic management is in place after a slip on State Highway 73, about 3km west of Jacksons.
Road users are asked to stop on request and to take extra care driving through the area (see images below). Slips have occurred around the West Coast, after further afield, after a bout of heavy rain.
New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) has also had a general strong wind warning in place today for the South Island, with road users asked to take extra care, especially those operating lighter or high sided vehicles and motorcycles.
Contractors for NZTA have responded to a number of reports of fallen trees on state highways around Canterbury and the West Coast.
