SH79 Reopened After Serious Crash
UPDATE: 5.15pm – SH79 reopened after serious crash
State Highway 79/Geraldine-Fairlie Highway in South Canterbury has reopened after a serious crash.
Emergency services had been completing their work at the crash scene, near Middle Valley and Bracefield Road.
Road users are asked to take care driving through the area.

12.50pm – SH79 closed in South Canterbury after serious crash
A serious vehicle crash has resulted in the closure of State Highway 79/Geraldine-Fairlie Highway in South Canterbury.
Emergency services are at the scene of the crash near Middle Valley and Bracefield Road. The highway is closed between Fairlie and Earl Road.
Road users should avoid the area or delay travel if possible. Alternative routes are available from the Fairlie end of the closure via State Highways 8 and 1, and from the Geraldine end via Route 72, State Highways 1 and 8.
An update will be provided as the road status changes.
