Timeline For The Education And Workforce Committee’s Inquiry Into Online Harm Extended
Reflecting the amount of evidence received and the high quality of submissions, the Education and Workforce Committee has made the decision to provide its report on the inquiry into the harm young New Zealanders encounter online in two parts. An initial interim report is intended to be released by the end of 2025. A further, final report is intended to follow in early 2026.
The committee initiated the inquiry into the harm young New Zealanders encounter online, and the roles that Government, business, and society should play in addressing those harms in June 2025. It has received written submissions from around 400 individuals and organisations. Submissions closed on 30 July 2025. The committee would like to thank everyone who chose to share their experiences and expertise.
Following written submissions, the committee held 87 hearings across two days, which provided further valuable insight into the areas under consideration. The breadth and depth of what the committee has heard has been exceptional.
