High Winds In Wellington - Please Stay Out Of The City's Parks And Reserves
Wellingtonians are strongly urged to stay out of the capital city’s parks and reserves due to the danger presented by falling trees and branches as gale winds batter the lower North Island.
The warning follows the Police report of the death of a man hit by a branch on Mt Victoria this morning.
Members of the public should stay out of the reserves while strong winds continue.
Motorists and cyclists should also take care on roads due to reports of trees coming down.
Zealandia, and Begonia House in the Botanic Garden, have both been closed today due to safety concerns.
