SH80 In Mackenzie Country Closed; Further Route (SH6) To West Coast Also Closed
UPDATE: 12pm – SH80 in Mackenzie Country closed; further route (SH6) to West Coast also closed
State Highway 80 in the Mackenzie Country is now also closed, between State Highway 8 and Aoraki-Mount Cook, due to flooding.

Meanwhile, State Highway 6 between Murchison and Kawatiri Junction remains closed due to an underslip and work being undertaken to address it (see images below).
This means that the various highways connecting to the South Island’s West Coast are now closed, including SH7, SH73 and SH6. A reminder to people to avoid travel or delay your journeys if you can.
