Bomb Threat - Wellington Islamic Centre (Kilbirnie Masjid)
Earlier this morning, the Police in Wellington advised that they had noted a threat to the Wellington Islamic Centre (Kilbirnie Masjid).
Some Details:
The threat was based on an online platform and had specified the exact address of the Kilbirnie Masjid.
What are the Police Doing:
We have been in touch with the Police and they have the situation well in control and are now actively tracking and tracing the source of the threat. No doubt we shall be advised in due course. It should be mentioned that this type of threat has happened before and, in each case, the Police has taken them very seriously. A very senior Police official overseeing this case.
What Happens Now:
As a necessary precaution all community activities have been stopped at Kilbirnie Masjid. All the other mosques and Islamic centres in Wellington have been advised of the threat. Police have increased their patrol of Kilbirnie Masjid. Br Tariq Saeed, President of IMAN, will keep the local community informed. IMAN is the Wellington Muslim community organisation and a part of FIANZ.
