A vehicle crash on State Highway 1/Waikouaiti-Waitati Road near Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin, has closed the road.

Emergency services are at the crash site at the Waikouaiti River bridge after police were called about 10.20am this morning.

Traffic is being diverted onto McGrath Road to the south, and Ramrock Road to the north, for light vehicles only. Road users should expect delays and should avoid the area or delay their journeys if they can.
