Milestone Day For New Council

Tomorrow (Thursday) is another milestone day for the new Council who will be sworn in and the new Deputy Mayor, Aubrey Ria will be appointed at the 13th inaugural council meeting to be held at Lawson Field theatre.
Mayor Rehette Stoltz said Ms Ria will be a great complement to the skill set needed to support leadership of the Council.
“Aubrey brings a positive, future-focussed approach to our team,” said Mayor Stoltz.
“She has great community connections and adds a wealth of governance experience to the role. Aubrey shone in the role as my representative on the Te Maruata board for the past three years.”
New to the Council this year are Jeremy Muir, Sam Gibson and Alexander Boros on the General Ward, and Anne Huriwai in the Māori Ward. They join Colin Alder, Rob Telfer, Debbie Gregory, Larry Foster, Teddy Thompson, Aubrey Ria, Rhonda Tibble, Nick Tupara and Rawinia Parata.
Councillors will make official declarations to serve the community with integrity, transparency and dedication, with the meeting livestreamed from 11am.
Newly elected councillor Anne Huriwai will not attend due to a prior medical appointment which she is unable to reschedule. Instead, she will be sworn in at the November 12 Council meeting.
