Watch What You Put In Your Recycling And Waste
Whether it’s antifreeze, asbestos, underwear or underlay – Council can tell you exactly where to put it.
A new A–Z of recycling and waste is now live on Council’s website
Go to https://www.marlborough.govt.nz/services/recycling-and-waste/a-z-recycling-and-waste-directory
The directory helps determine what goes in your kerbside bins and where to drop off other unwanted items for reuse, recycling, or safe disposal.
All recycling in Marlborough is collected either through kerbside collection or taken to transfer stations, where it is hand-processed by a team of workers on the sort line.
It’s crucial to ensure that anything put in the recycling is rinsed, as dirty containers can contaminate other items. Glass also must be kept separately and put into the maroon glass recycling bin.
Make sure anything that is not recyclable doesn’t go into the recycling bin but into the general waste. If in doubt leave it out. Recycling is all about quality so only put it in the recycling bin if you are sure it can be recycled.
This is where the A-Z comes in – check before you put it in the bin.
