Central Hawke’s Bay’s Moving Into Level 2 Water Restrictions
The amount of water flowing through Central Hawke’s Bay’s rivers has dropped, causing us to move into Level 2 water restrictions.
Our resource consent for water take means that when the flow of our water sources – the Waipawa and Tukituki Rivers – consistently drops below a trigger level, we have to implement water restrictions, Central Hawke’s Bay District Council Chief Executive Doug Tate said.
“While we’ve had some rain recently, it’s not had a long-term impact on our rivers water levels, so we need to move into Level 2 water restrictions,” Tate said.
At Level 2 the odds and evens rule applies, so odd numbered houses can use sprinklers and hoses on odd date days of the month and even numbered houses can use sprinklers and hoses on even date days of the month, sprinklers can only be used for one hour before 9am and after 5pm, and only clean hard surfaces, like a driveway, with a hose for health, safety or emergency purposes.
