Working Dogs A Focus For Peter Laing Agriculture Trust Grant Recipients
Four recipients have received a total of $8000 in the 2026 Peter Laing Agriculture Trust Grants.
The Trust offers grants to young Wairarapa people intending to follow a practical farming career – these can be used to pay for practical training and specialist equipment.
The four successful applicants are Kayne Allanson (from Carterton), Gracie Coppell (Pahiatua), Jaiden Duncan (Masterton), and Angus Wells (Masterton).
Three of the latest recipients will use their grants to help pay for a working dog, with one aiming to build up shearing equipment.
Joint Trust Chairs Emily and Anders Crofoot said the calibre of the four recipients was outstanding.
“We look forward to seeing the progress of these grant recipients, as we do previous recipients,” they said.
“Peter Laing was well known for his passion for farming and vision. These grants aim to provide encouragement to young Wairarapa people beginning their careers in pastoral farming, and give them a financial boost to get started.”
