Kariaotahi Incident Response Notification
Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) can confirm that Surf Lifesaving Kariaotahi surf lifeguards and Search and Rescue teams were activated to assist Police with the retrieval of a deceased person at the Waikato Bar.
Surf lifeguards from Surf Lifesaving Kariaotahi responded to the incident at the Waikato River mouth this morning.
SLSNZ acknowledges and thanks the surf lifeguards involved for their ongoing efforts during the search and extends its heartfelt condolences to the whānau and friends of the victim.
The Police have no further comment at this time and have advised the death will be referred to the coroner.
