SH7 Closure For Essential Culvert Replacement

A key route to the West Coast is due to be closed for a couple of days later this month as an essential culvert replacement is carried out.
State Highway 7/Ikamatua Highway between Reefton and Maimai is scheduled for closure from 8am, Sunday 25 January, to 8am, Tuesday 27 January, to allow contractors to carry out the work. This means access to Greymouth via SH7 will be unavailable.
A detour via State Highways 69 and 6 will be available (see map below), however this is expected to add significant travel time and so road users are encouraged to plan ahead. Poor weather may mean an extension of the closure through to 8am, Wednesday 28 January, which will be notified if that is required.
We thank people for their patience and understanding. Stay up to date on this and other state highway restrictions at our Journey Planner site.
