Disability Advisory Group Calls For Applications
Masterton District Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community members to join the Disability Advisory Group (DAG).
The DAG was established in 2024 to provide Council with advice, information and recommendations on disability inclusion and accessibility.
“The group have made really valuable contributions to Council's decison-making process" Community Development Team Leader Kelsi Rutene said.
“In this second term, we want lots of different people to apply and share their unique experiences."
The Disability Advisory Group is made up of up to 12 members, including two elected members - Cr Gary Caffell and Cr Waireka Collings - up to four iwi representatives, and six community members appointed by a selection panel through the EOI process.
Gary Caffell said: “Disabled people and their whānau face obstacles every day. It’s our responsibility to work with the disabled community to remove those barriers.
“They always say ‘nothing about us, without us’ and we’re committed to making sure we have disabled voices in our decision-making process.”
Group members attend at least four meetings a year and further input may be requested through additional meetings, emails or surveys.
Interested people can visit mstn.govt.nz and search ‘Disability Advisory Group’ or email kelsir@mstn.govt.nz for more information. Applications should be made before 27 February 2026.
