Have Your Say On Proposed District Plan Changes
Taupō District Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on three proposed plan changes to the Taupō District Plan.
The District Plan guides how land can be used and developed across the district. It sets out what activities are permitted and when resource consent is required.
Council is proposing three updates to help keep the District Plan efficient, up to date and fit for purpose, ahead of expected national planning changes and the development of a future Combined Regional Plan.
The proposed changes support the use and development of Māoriowned land, provide for current and future infrastructure needs, carry over existing designations with minor updates where required, and correct minor errors in the current District Plan that are causing issues for plan users.
The proposed plan changes are: Plan Change 47 – Māori Purpose Zone, Plan Change 48 – Designations and Plan Change 49 – Minor corrections.
Anyone can make a submission. Council policy staff are available to help explain the proposed changes and how they work. They can be contacted on 07 376 0899, 0800 ASK TDC, or by emailing districtplan@taupo.govt.nz.
If you need help making a submission or understanding how the changes may impact on plans you have, you may need to talk to a planning consultant.
Submissions must be made using the required form under the Resource Management Act. Full details of the plan changes and submission forms are available at www.taupo.govt.nz/districtplanchanges.
Hard copies can also be viewed at council service centres in Taupō, Tūrangi and Mangakino, and at Taupō District libraries.
Submissions close at 4.30pm on Thursday 19 March.
