Aerocool Rescue Helicopter Carries Out 56 Missions In January
The Aerocool Rescue Helicopter, which serves the Coastal Bay of Plenty region, carried out 56 life-saving missions throughout January.
These missions included 23 inter-hospital transfers, six medical events, 10 rural/farm incidents, seven motor vehicle accidents and ten miscellaneous missions.
The Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was most often seen in the likes of Tauranga with 11 inter-hospital transfers, Whakatane with 9 inter-hospital transfers and Rotorua with 2 inter-hospital transfers. The Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was frequently seen in locations such as Matakana Island, Motiti Island, Waihau Bay and Paengaroa.
The month started off with the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter being dispatched to Whangamata after being tasked to assist a female in serious condition. She was treated on scene and airlifted to Waikato Hospital to receive ongoing care.
That evening, the rescue helicopter was tasked to Whakatane Hospital for a male who had sustained injuries following a fall while horse riding. He was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital to receive advanced care.
On Saturday evening, January 3rd, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Araroa for a male who had sustained injuries following a motor vehicle accident. He was treated on scene and flown to Whakatane Hospital to receive ongoing treatment.
On Saturday morning, January 17th, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Tauranga Hospital for a female who had sustained serious burn injuries. She was flown to Waikato Hospital to receive further treatment.
That afternoon, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Kawerau for a male who had sustained serious injuries following a motor vehicle accident. He was treated on scene and airlifted to Waikato Hospital for ongoing treatment.
On Sunday afternoon, January 18th, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Pyes Pa for a female who had sustained injuries following a fall. She was stabilised on scene and flown to Waikato Hospital to receive further care.
In the early hours of Monday morning, January 19th, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Omokoroa for a male in serious condition. He was treated on scene by the onboard Critical Care Flight Paramedic before being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further care.
On Thursday afternoon, January 22nd, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Edgecumbe for a female who had sustained serious injuries following a motor vehicle accident. She was treated on scene and flown to Waikato Hospital for further care.
On Friday morning, January 23rd, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Motiti Island for a male who was in critical condition. He was stabilised on scene and airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for ongoing treatment.
The month ended with the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter being dispatched to Whiritoa for a male who had sustained injuries. He was winched from the location and flown to Tauranga Hospital to receive ongoing care.
