Oriental Fruit Fly Update – Saturday 28 February
Our stepped-up surveillance continues in Papatoetoe. No further fruit flies have been found.
Our response team is continuing its work, installing signage, checking traps, and picking up waste from bins in the area for safe disposal.
Fruit and vegetable collection gets under way this morning. The collected produce will be examined in our special laboratory for any signs of fruit fly.
Last night, Biosecurity New Zealand officers visited the Papatoetoe markets to share information about the response with the local community.
