Important Roading Work For SH1 In Oamaru
A series of roadworks in and around Oamaru over the next few weeks will enable important roading improvements but will potentially mean short delays for road users.
From tomorrow (Monday 2 March) through to Friday 6 March, road repairs on State Highway 1/Thames Street, between Exe Street and Weaver Street will mean traffic management daily from 6am to 7pm that will require vehicles stopping on demand and a 30km/h temporary speed limit.
This work will be followed by asphalt resurfacing on SH1 through Oamaru from Monday 9 March to approximately Thursday 19 March, between 6pm and 7am daily (except Friday or Saturday nights), where again road users will be expected to stop on demand and to observe a temporary speed limit of 30km/h.
In addition, roadworks on SH1/Pukeuri-Oamaru Road, at the intersection of T Y Duncan Road just north of Oamaru, will also require stopping on demand and a 30km/h temporary speed limit, between 6pm and 7am daily from Sunday 8 March through to Tuesday 10 March.
While any traffic delays will only be short in each case, people are encouraged to plan for these. Road users are also asked to take care driving through these work sites and to keep the safety of road workers in mind.
