UPDATE: 5pm – SH1 clear again after North Canterbury crash
Vehicles have been towed after a crash this afternoon on State Highway 1 between Oaro and Hundalee, near Kaikōura, allowing the road to fully reopen.
Road users are asked to take care travelling through this area, and through roadworks for planned activities on SH1 north and south of Kaikōura.
3.30pm – North Canterbury crash restricting travel on SH1
A crash on State Highway 1 between Oaro and Hundalee, near Kaikōura, is impacting on travel this afternoon.
The northbound lane of SH1/Hundalee Road is blocked and traffic is being managed at the crash site. Emergency services are working at the site.
Road users are advised to expect delays and to travel with care through the area until the site is cleared.
