Springlands Wastewater Pump Stations Upgrade
Council is upgrading three wastewater pump stations in Springlands to improve the capacity and reliability of Blenheim's wastewater network.
The Purkiss Street Sewerage Project involves upgrades to pump stations on Purkiss Street North, Nelson Street, and Kingwell Drive, including significant upgrades to connecting sewer mains. Fulton Hogan is carrying out the works, which commenced in mid-January and are scheduled for completion by July 2026.
The Kingwell Accessway footpath will be closed between today – Monday 9 March - and the end of April 2026. During this time, residents and pedestrians are encouraged to use an alternative route between Kingwell Drive and Middle Renwick Road/Nelson Street.
There will also be some lane closures on Nelson Street allowing one way traffic with detours for the other direction. This will be intermittent from 16 March for approximately one week.
Temporary traffic management measures - including lane closures, road closures, footpath closures, and detours - will be in place throughout the construction period.
Council thanks residents and road users for their patience.
