Northland Flooding – Key Routes Should Open This Afternoon

Crews are working at pace to get state highways back open around Northland today. Road users should be aware that even where flood water has receded, road surfaces will be slippery and may be damaged. Drive with care.
At Whakapara Bridge on SH1, temporary repairs are underway on the sections where the pavement has failed. We expect to get the road back open by 3pm today.
Geotechnical investigations are complete and slip material is being removed in the Mangamuka Gorge. We also anticipate the road will reopen by 3pm today.
For more information on road conditions and detours – go to the NZTA Journey Planner.
