Commemorate Anzac Day In The Capital
Wellington marks this Anzac Day with commemorative events and activities throughout the weekend including a Dawn Service, wreath laying ceremony, and the Last Post at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park.

Wellington City Council, in partnership with the Wellington RSA, invites everyone to attend one of the many events around the region, to commemorate and honour the nation’s servicemen and women.
Mayor Andrew Little encourages Wellingtonians of all ages and backgrounds to reflect on the consequences of conflict, and take part in some way, however big or small, on Saturday 25 April.
“Whatever we think about war generally, the reality is that the experiences and devastation of World War 1 and subsequent conflicts have left an indelible imprint on our shared histories, and created lifelong harm to those who are unfortunate to have lived through them. It is important we remember all those affected by war.
“There are events all around the city, throughout all hours of the day, so everyone can honour those who have served or are currently serving our country – even if it’s the simple act of wearing a poppy. Anzac weekend is a time for reflection, remembrance, and hope.
"It is also a time to be with friends and whānau to enjoy our connections and freedoms as we enjoy a long weekend. The special sold-out Anzac Warriors versus Dolphins Rugby League match at Hnry Stadium on Saturday night will also be a great way to share the experience of community in our Capital.”
As well as the events, a commemorative projection will be displayed on the Wellington Cenotaph in the lead-up to Anzac Day, and assets will be lit up around the Capital to honour the occasion, including along the waterfront and cable car tunnels.
