WINNER OF AXA AWARD ANNOUNCED
John Nuttall, Trustee and Chairman for BHP New Zealand Steel Pension Scheme was announced as the winner of the AXA Trustee of the Year Award, in the weekend.
Mr Nuttall's win, announced at an Association of Superannuation Funds of New Zealand (ASFONZ) Conference dinner, recognises his outstanding contribution as one of thousands of unpaid superannuation scheme trustees in New Zealand.
AXA Corporate Superannuation Services Managing Director Gregory Fortuin said Mr Nuttall was an unsung hero, respected for his professional approach and commitment to BHP fund members.
"By all accounts Mr Nuttall is an excellent advocate for saving for retirement through employer-subsidised superannuation contributions. He has shown leadership during a period of considerable change over the last two years," said Mr Fortuin.
He adds that Trustees are an essential part of the country's saving industry. "In an environment where less than 50% of New Zealanders have retirement savings, it's important to acknowledge Trustees such as Mr Nutall, who's work helps to reverse this trend."
Mr Nuttall was selected by a panel of superannuation industry judges, ahead of two other finalists.
His prize is a trophy and an all-expenses paid trip for two to Australia to attend a major superannuation conference in 2001.
