HOW CAN WE USE LESS PETROL OR DIESEL
Motor Trade Association Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Matthews recommends that for all motorists that the best ways to reduce fuel consumption is to:
1. Service the vehicle regularly at a qualified MTA
garage, particularly the air filter and an oil
change.
2. Tyres kept at the correct pressure.
3.
Accelerate gently.
4. Keeping your tank full to avoid
tank vapour losses.
5. Lighten the load, don't carry
unnecessary weight
If you are a high use motorist perhaps consider conversion to LPG.
All the above actions will also help the environment by reducing emissions.
The MTA are delighted by the Auckland motorist response to the Smokey campaign, within the first four days over 2000 vehicles have been reported. Its clear that public are keen to tidy up our environment and that the motorist can do something directly about it.
