TVNZ To Film Question Time In Parliament
TVNZ is delighted with today's announcement by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Jonathon Hunt that Parliamentary Question Time is to be broadcast live on television.
TVNZ will be providing all of the equipment and expertise to prepare a live broadcast which will be screened on the digital Sky News Channel and replayed in the evenings.TVNZ's General Manager of News & Current Affairs, Peter O'Hara says TVNZ has in the past broadcast Parliamentary debates, Question Time and the Budget on an occasional or trial basis."This arrangement with Sky is the beginning of what TVNZ hopes will become more permanent Parliamentary broadcasts. "TVNZ certainly sees a place for Parliamentary broadcasting amongst its plans to develop a New Zealand-focussed 24 hour news channel, which is why it will be branded as a ONE News programme, and available to be broadcast on a number of outlets. Starting it off with this arrangement with Sky is an opportunity to speed the process up." He also says it is a good example of co-operation for the benefit of all, including Parliament itself.
