BP Shaves A Further 2 Cents Off The Petrol Price
BP has dropped petrol price by 2 cents a litre on the back of lower refined petrol prices - the second drop in less than a week.
The decrease, which took place last night, lowers BP’s prices at most of its service stations in the main cities to $1.16.9 for Unleaded 91 and $1.21.9 for Premium Unleaded. Diesel prices remain unchanged due to the continuing high cost of the product.
BP’s Managing Director Peter Griffiths said today’s decrease is due to lower refined petrol prices in the wake of the US’s recent decision to release some of its oil reserves.
Mr Griffiths said that while the weak NZ dollar continues to hurt BP, the company is committed to passing on price decreases on the international market as soon as possible.
“We showed that last Thursday when we dropped our prices by 3 cents a litre and yesterday we gave motorists more good news.”
Mr Griffiths said he hopes that the downward trend on petrol prices will continue. “Unfortunately however, you can never predict with any certainty what will happen to the world oil market.”
