Employers want action on ACC double charging
Employers being double charged for ACC premiums is unacceptable says New Zealand Employers' Federation chief executive Anne Knowles.
"While ACC has admitted that some employers have been double charged, they say they are simply applying the law as it stands. But it would never have been Parliament's intention to double charge a large number of employers," Ms Knowles said
"Dr Cullen has stated he has received advice that it would be unwise to retrospectively change the law, as it was a one-off issue connected to the privatisation of ACC and would not arise again.
"But the employers who have been hit by double premiums, some amounting to tens of thousands of dollars, expect action to resolve this problem - not buck passing. If this involves a change to the law to reflect what Parliament intended then it should be done," Ms Knowles said.
