Industry Supports E-Govt Plan
26 APRIL, 2001
The information industry is fully supportive of the Government’s plans for the development of e-government, the Executive Director of the Information Technology Association of New Zealand (ITANZ), Mr Jim O’Neill, said today.
“Specific interval reviews of deliverables and milestones are essential, as outlined, and it will be equally important that the funding base to reach targets is maintained.
“This programme is a key pillar in New Zealand’s moves to fully embrace the new information age. It sits alongside e-commerce and the digital divide as a must for action.
“ITANZ will advance specific initiatives from time to time to assist the government’s progress An example is the private finance initiative which was promoted to accelerate progress in e-government and e-commerce and to help remove risk from govt development in both of these areas.
“Our industry and its support services are ready to move in tandem with government.”
