NEWCALL Group Launches New Offshore Subsidiary
4 May 2001
NEWCALL Group Limited, parent company of electricity retailer, Energy Online, ISP Iprolink and Singapore telco NEWCALL Communications, has announced the formation of a new subsidiary - NEWCALL Technology Limited – to hold and market the intellectual property of the group as well as the investment Newcall Group has in Newcall Singapore.
NEWCALL Technology holds the group’s billing expertise from both the electricity and telecommunications subsidiaries, including the former New Zealand niche telco, NEWCALL Communications Limited.
The company will license this Intellectual Property as a specialised multi functional billing system for telephony, power, and other specialised utilities. In addition, the system provides a single entry point for managing customer relations (CRM) capabilities for companies with large customer bases.
Currently, NEWCALL Communications Singapore is licensed to use the technology, with a number of other contracts in negotiation, according to NEWCALL Group Limited Director, Jim Bracknell.
Mr Bracknell says that the move to set up a subsidiary to license the group’s intellectual property is a further step in the restructuring of the NEWCALL Group. Newcall Technology will also hold the Group’s shares in Newcall Communications Singapore.
“The focus of our restructuring is to achieve profitability in the New Zealand operations and to protect and enhance NEWCALL shareholder value,” he says.
“NEWCALL Technology is one of the keys to
this, together with the enormous potential of our successful
power reseller Energy Online, and the growing
telecommunications subsidiary NEWCALL Communication
Singapore. “
NEWCALL Technology will be based in Mauritius, and is capitalised to the amount of NZ$7.3m.
